The Ada K. Damon was a sand schooner that sank off of Crane Beach in Ipswich, Massachusetts.

Having a chronic illness is a struggle for many parents.  Flutter on My Cheeks is an attempt at telling a story that normalizes the issues that parents face.  

Wee 'Ouse Asbury Grove

The Wee Fae ‘Ouse, or the Fairy Cottage, was initially completed in 1871, by Robert Sanderson. Mr. Sanderson was a devout Methodist and shipbuilder. With the help of family, friends, and colleagues from her days in construction full time, Katherine will reinvent the cottage to make a retreat for the body and spirit where she plans to write and create art.

With the help of amazing premium digital illustrators on freepiks.com Katherine was able to create her own illustrations by mixing custom creations and existing elements. She focused on making sure that the simplicity of the images worked for the story line.

Living on the water author, Katherine DeSilva, wanted to share a story that could inspire young people to take interest in the history of the area. 
The Great Neck Mermaid is an attempt to tell a story that explores the waterways around Ipswich Bay.

Ada K. Damon was a schooner that was used for fishing and later for sand transportation. The ship wrecked on December 26, 1909 during a large snowstorm. Katherine and her family explored the wreck off Crane Beach which sparked the idea for this story.

After completing a "Flutter on My Cheeks" Katherine had increased her skills drawing digitally. Katherine was able to create many more unique illustrations for this book including animals and sea creatures. Her style has become more personalize she is incorporating more of her own characters and imagination into digitally drawn elements.

Katherine DeSilva has been a life long writer.  Her first children's book, Flutter on My Cheeks: Mummy, Me, & Multiple Sclerosis, was published in 2022.  
Her second book, The Great Neck Mermaid  was published in 2023. 

Katherine currently has additional books in the works,geared towards adults and children.

Katherine DeSilva was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) after the birth of her daughter. She works to spread awareness about MS and the huge range of issues that people with invisible illness face.
